Job Title: SEMH Support Staff (Primary)
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about supporting children who may need additional emotional and behavioural support to succeed at school? A welcoming primary school in Doncaster is looking for dedicated SEMH Support Staff to join their team.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Support Staff member, you will provide tailored support to pupils who may experience social, emotional and mental health needs. Working alongside teachers and other school staff, you will help pupils manage challenges, engage with learning and develop greater confidence and independence.
Your day may include one-to-one support, small-group activities, helping pupils regulate their emotions and encouraging positive behaviour throughout the school day.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.

Help pupils manage emotions and develop appropriate coping strategies.

Support positive behaviour and engagement in classroom activities.

Build trusting and professional relationships with pupils.

Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide consistent support.

Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive social skills.

Monitor pupils’ responses to support and share relevant feedback with staff.
Requirements:

Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A patient, calm and resilient approach.

Ability to respond sensitively to individual pupil needs.

Confidence supporting children in one-to-one and small-group settings.

Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

A genuine commitment to helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
