Do you have a background in sport and enjoy helping young people stay focused, motivated and engaged? A welcoming school in Rotherham is looking for a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to provide classroom-based support and help pupils make positive progress.

About the Role:

This is a school-based classroom support role rather than a sports delivery position. You’ll work alongside teachers to support pupils with their learning, behaviour and engagement, with duties that may include classroom support, cover supervision and working with pupils who require additional support.

Your background in sport can bring valuable transferable skills such as confidence, resilience, structure, communication and behaviour management. Sport is your background, but your main responsibility will be supporting pupils in the classroom.

About the School:

This supportive school is committed to helping pupils achieve their potential through clear expectations, positive behaviour and effective learning support. Staff work closely together to create a calm and inclusive environment where pupils feel supported throughout the school day.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom-based support across Primary or Secondary settings.

  • Support pupils with learning, behaviour and engagement.

  • Assist teachers with maintaining a calm and structured classroom.

  • Provide cover supervision when required.

  • Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage participation.

  • Use strong communication and behaviour management skills to support pupils effectively.

  • Share relevant observations and feedback with teaching staff.

Requirements:

  • Experience in sport, coaching, fitness or a similar background is desirable.

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is advantageous.

  • Strong behaviour management, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A calm, resilient and consistent approach.

  • Confidence supporting pupils in a classroom environment.

  • Ability to adapt your approach to meet individual pupil needs.

  • A genuine commitment to supporting young people and their education.

To work with GSL Education as a Sports Coach / Learning Support, you should:
