Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about helping pupils with additional needs thrive in the classroom? A welcoming school in Sheffield is looking for a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support and help pupils engage positively with their learning.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support pupils with a range of special educational needs. You’ll provide one-to-one and small-group assistance, help pupils access their learning and encourage positive participation throughout the school day.
You’ll also help pupils develop their confidence, independence and social skills while contributing to a calm and supportive classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN.

Assist pupils with accessing classroom activities and learning tasks.

Work alongside teachers to adapt support according to individual needs.

Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and independence.

Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

Support pupils with their social, emotional and communication development.

Share relevant observations and feedback with teaching staff.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A patient, calm and compassionate approach.

Ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs.

Confidence working independently and as part of a wider school team.

A genuine commitment to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
