The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide pupils with the individualised support they need to thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils during transitions and throughout the school day
  • Working closely with teachers and other professionals to meet individual needs

Every pupil is different, so the role requires someone who is patient, adaptable and willing to think creatively about how best to support each child.

About the School

The school is a specialist primary provision offering a supportive and nurturing environment for children with additional needs.

With a strong focus on individual development, the school aims to help every pupil build confidence, develop independence and reach their full potential.

The dedicated staff team work collaboratively to create a structured but engaging environment where pupils feel safe, valued and supported.

The Ideal Candidate

The school would welcome applications from candidates with previous experience in SEN, education, childcare, care, youth work or support work, although this is not essential.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Energetic, enthusiastic and positive
  • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
  • Confident and calm when working with challenging or complex needs
  • Able to build strong and trusting relationships
  • Creative and willing to get involved in activities and play
  • Adaptable and resilient
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Committed to helping children develop their confidence and independence

SEN experience is desirable but not essential. The most important qualities are the right attitude, a genuine passion for working with children and the ability to create positive relationships.

Why Apply?

  • Support children on an individual and small-group basis
  • Gain valuable experience within a specialist education setting
  • Supportive and experienced staff team
