GSL Education Hull Branch are currently hiring an English Teacher to work in a school in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher who can deliver engaging lessons, establish positive relationships with pupils and create a classroom environment where learners are encouraged to participate, progress and succeed.

English Teacher Role:

The successful English Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging English lessons across the appropriate key stages, supporting pupils with a range of abilities. You will promote strong literacy skills, encourage critical thinking and maintain high expectations while adapting your teaching to meet individual learning needs.

English Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons that meet curriculum objectives and support pupil progress.
  • Teach and develop pupils’ skills in reading, writing, grammar, analysis and communication.
  • Differentiate learning activities and resources to meet a range of abilities and learning needs.
  • Establish a positive classroom environment with clear expectations for behaviour and participation.
  • Assess pupils’ work, provide constructive feedback and use assessment to inform future planning.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to pupils’ wider academic development and progress.

English Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature.
  • Previous experience teaching English within a secondary school setting is desirable.
  • Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to motivate and engage pupils.
  • A flexible and reflective approach to teaching, with a commitment to supporting every pupil’s progress.
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
