Salary Scale: £102 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting for a reliable, confident, and adaptable Cover Supervisor to work within schools across York. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong classroom management skills who can maintain a positive learning environment and ensure students remain focused and engaged when their usual teacher is unavailable.
About the Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher, delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and ensuring students remain on task. You will work across different subjects and year groups, making this a varied role that requires confidence, flexibility, and a calm approach to managing classroom behaviour.
Core Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor:
- Supervise students in accordance with the school's expectations and provide a safe, structured learning environment.
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson activities and ensure students remain engaged with their work.
- Manage classroom behaviour calmly and consistently, addressing issues appropriately.
- Register students and maintain accurate records of attendance and behaviour where required.
- Support students with their learning while encouraging independence and positive participation.
- Provide relevant feedback to teaching staff regarding lesson engagement, behaviour, and any concerns.
As the Ideal Cover Supervisor, You Should Have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, education, youth, or similar setting.
- Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence working independently across different classes and subject areas.
- A calm, professional, and adaptable approach to challenging situations.
- A genuine commitment to supporting students and maintaining a positive learning environment.
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Provide an up-to-date CV and references covering the last 2 years.
- Have recent experience working with children or young people.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
