Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to work in schools across York. This is a rewarding opportunity for a caring and adaptable individual who can work alongside teaching staff to provide effective classroom support and help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful Teaching Assistant will play an important role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. You will provide individual and small-group assistance, encourage positive engagement and help create an environment where pupils feel confident, included and ready to learn.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils during lessons and learning activities.
- Assist teachers with classroom tasks, resources and activities to support effective learning.
- Encourage pupils to participate positively and develop greater confidence and independence.
- Provide appropriate support with pupils' social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Monitor pupil engagement and progress, sharing relevant observations with teaching staff.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and positive classroom environment.
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, care, youth or educational setting is desirable.
- A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with different needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Confidence in supporting pupils who may experience learning, behavioural or emotional barriers.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow guidance from teaching and support staff.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
