GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking an enthusiastic Sports Coach (Learning Support) to work with a school in Sheffield. This is a school-based classroom support role where you can use your coaching experience to encourage positive behaviour, student engagement and confidence. While your sports background is a great advantage, the main focus will be supporting teaching and learning, managing behaviour, helping with cover supervision, and making sure students can take part in their education successfully.
Your responsibilities as a Sports Coach (Learning Support):
- Support teachers with classroom activities and day-to-day learning will be an important task as a Sports Coach (Learning Support).
- Use coaching skills to encourage motivation, focus and positive attitudes.
- Provide targeted support to individual pupils or small groups.
Work alongside teachers to promote positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
- Help students develop confidence, resilience and constructive routines.
- Assist with maintaining positive behaviour within the classroom.
- Support students who require additional learning or SEN assistance.
- Provide appropriate cover or lesson supervision when required.
Requirements for the Sports Coach (Learning Support) role:
- Background in sports coaching, fitness, youth coaching or a related area.
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Strong communication and behaviour-management skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships and motivate pupils.
- Patient, adaptable and proactive approach.
- Confidence transferring coaching skills into a classroom environment.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
