Job title: Behaviour Support  

Location: Rotherham 

Salary: £460–£650 per week (depending on experience) 

Start Date: Immediate 

Contract Type: Long-Term/ Day-to-day, Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking a calm and committed Behaviour Support to work with a school in Rotherham. This role focuses on helping pupils manage behaviour, develop emotional awareness and reconnect positively with their learning and school routines. 

 Your responsibilities as a Behaviour Support: 

  • Provide individualised support to pupils experiencing behavioural difficulties. 

  • Help students recognise triggers and develop appropriate coping strategies. 

  • Encourage positive choices, self-regulation and respectful interactions. 

  • Build consistent and trusting relationships with pupils. 

  • Support students in returning to learning following periods of difficulty. 

  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral teams on behaviour strategies. 

  • Maintain accurate observations and communicate relevant concerns. 

Requirements for the Behaviour Support: 

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs is desirable. 

  • Experience in education, youth work, pastoral support or a similar setting would be beneficial. 

  • Patient, empathetic and non-judgemental approach is a must quality for a Behaviour Support. 

  • Confidence responding appropriately to challenging behaviour. 

  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities. 

  • Ability to remain calm and consistent in demanding situations. 

  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply. 

  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
