Job title: SEN Teaching Assistant 

Location: Rotherham 

Salary: £460–£600 per week (depending on experience) 

Start Date: ASAP 

Contract Type: Long-Term/ Day-to-day, Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to work with a school in Rotherham. This role provides an opportunity to offer tailored support, help pupils access learning and encourage greater confidence and independence in the classroom. 

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: 

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support. 

  • Assist students with Special Educational Needs with classroom activities and learning resources. 

  • Break down instructions to make tasks more accessible. 

  • Encourage independence and active participation in lessons. 

  • Support pupils with communication, social or learning needs where appropriate. 

  • Reinforce positive behaviour and classroom routines. 

  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to meet individual needs. 

Requirements for the role: 

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN especially as anSEN TA or similar role is desirable. 

  • Previous work in education, childcare, support work or a similar environment would be advantageous. 

  • Patient, caring and adaptable approach. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to develop positive and trusting relationships with students.  

  • Reliable and committed to supporting children's learning and wellbeing. 

  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply. 

  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection is required as anSEN Teaching Assistant.
