GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work in a secondary school in Scarborough. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teaching and learning professional who can provide high-quality classroom support, lead learning activities and contribute positively to pupils’ academic and personal development.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant Role:

The successful Higher Level Teaching Assistant will play an active role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You may be required to lead small-group activities, deliver planned learning tasks and provide targeted support to pupils, while maintaining high expectations and encouraging positive engagement.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Deliver planned learning activities to individuals and small groups, following guidance from teaching staff.
  • Provide targeted support to pupils who require additional help with their learning or engagement.
  • Lead classroom activities and cover lessons when required, maintaining a purposeful learning environment.
  • Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards their education.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to teachers and relevant staff.
  • Contribute to effective classroom management and promote high standards of behaviour and learning.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar education support role is essential.
  • A relevant Level 4 or Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of effective classroom support and the ability to confidently lead learning activities.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, reliable and adaptable approach, with a strong commitment to safeguarding.
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
