SEND Teaching Assistant (SEND TA)

Location: Hull
Salary: £93 - £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

GSL Education Hull Branch are seeking enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Hull, supporting pupils with their learning, development, and wellbeing.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide tailored assistance to pupils with a range of additional needs. You will support students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them overcome barriers to learning while promoting their confidence, independence, and overall development.

Responsibilities of a SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Assist teachers in delivering inclusive and engaging learning activities.
  • Support pupils with their individual learning plans and specific educational needs.
  • Adapt learning resources and activities to suit individual abilities.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence.
  • Support pupils with their social and emotional development.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and relevant staff.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues.

Requirements of a SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable.
  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience supporting pupils with needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties is beneficial.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Enhanced DBS on update service or willingness to apply
