Job Title: Computer Studies Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking knowledgeable and forward-thinking Computer Studies (CS) Teacher to work in schools throughout Barnsley. This opportunity is suited to qualified educators who can make computing accessible, combine theoretical concepts with practical tasks, and encourage students to become confident problem-solvers in an increasingly digital world.

As a Computer Studies Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons across computing and digital technology, developing students’ understanding of programming, computer systems, data, networks, and computational thinking.

Computer Studies Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Create curriculum-focused lessons covering key areas of Computing and Computer Studies
  • Introduce programming principles through practical coding activities and projects
  • Explore topics such as algorithms, networks, computer systems, data, and cybersecurity
  • Strengthen computational thinking through logical and problem-solving exercises
  • Evaluate student understanding using coursework, projects, and formal assessments
  • Prepare examination groups with focused revision and targeted academic support

Computer Studies Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification
  • Strong knowledge of the secondary Computing or Computer Studies curriculum
  • Familiarity with programming languages and their classroom applications
  • Experience teaching Computing, Computer Science, or ICT at secondary level
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to students with varying levels of ability
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
