Job Title: Design and Technology Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are working with creative schools in Barnsley to recruit creative and technically capable Design and Technology Teacher. We welcome qualified educators who can combine practical instruction with design thinking, introduce learners to different materials and processes, and encourage students to develop original solutions through hands-on projects.
The Design and Technology Teacher will guide learners through the design process while building their technical knowledge, practical abilities, creativity, and understanding of how products are developed.
D&T Teacher Responsibilities:
- Deliver practical and theory-based lessons across the Design and Technology curriculum
- Demonstrate appropriate techniques for working with tools, materials, and specialist equipment
- Guide learners from initial concepts through prototyping, production, and evaluation
- Encourage experimentation and creative approaches to practical design challenges
- Assess project work and provide constructive feedback to improve outcomes
- Ensure workshop activities follow appropriate health and safety procedures
DT Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification
- Practical knowledge of Design and Technology materials, processes, and equipment
- Experience teaching D&T within a secondary school environment
- Understanding of health and safety requirements for practical classroom activities
- Ability to manage workshop-based lessons while keeping learners engaged
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
