Graduate Cover Supervisor
Location: Canterbury, Kent
Salary: £100 - £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Long-term Supply

If so, GSL Education Kent would love to hear from you! We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic Graduate Cover Supervisor to join a large and diverse secondary school in Canterbury. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop classroom leadership, communication, and behaviour management skills while supporting students across a range of subjects.
The school supports students from a wide variety of backgrounds and abilities and is committed to maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment. As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will provide planned and emergency cover for absent teachers, ensuring students continue to access their learning throughout the school day. This Graduate Cover Supervisor position would be an excellent stepping stone for a graduate considering a PGCE or future career in education.
As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will be expected to:
- Supervise classes across different subjects and year groups.
- Deliver pre-set lessons and ensure students complete the work provided.
- Manage behaviour and maintain high classroom expectations.
- Support students with their work where appropriate.
- Work alongside teaching and pastoral staff.
- Build positive relationships with students.
- Adapt quickly to different classroom environments and situations.
To be considered for this Graduate Cover Supervisor role, candidates must:
- Hold a degree or equivalent qualification.
- Have previous experience working with children or young people.
- Have relevant experience through school work, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or similar roles.
- Demonstrate confidence when leading groups of students.
- Have strong communication and organisational skills.
- Be calm, resilient, adaptable, and reliable.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Meet GSL's safer recruitment requirements.
- Hold an Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
