Graduate Cover Supervisor

Location: Chatham, Kent

Salary: £100 - £120 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, Long-term Supply

Would you like to build your classroom confidence and develop practical behaviour management skills as a Graduate Cover Supervisor?

If so, GSL Education Kent would love to hear from you! We are currently recruiting for a proactive Graduate Cover Supervisor to join a large and busy secondary school in Chatham. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience across different year groups and subjects while supporting the smooth running of the school during teacher absence.

As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning, supervising lessons, and ensuring students remain engaged with their work. This Graduate Cover Supervisor opportunity is ideal for a graduate who is considering teacher training and wants to experience the realities of working in a secondary school.

As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will be expected to:

  • Supervise lessons across different year groups and subject areas.
  • Follow and deliver prepared lesson plans and resources.
  • Maintain positive behaviour and high classroom expectations.
  • Support students with their learning and encourage engagement.
  • Communicate effectively with teaching and support staff.
  • Adapt confidently to different classes and situations.
  • Ensure lessons continue smoothly during teacher absence.

To be considered for this Graduate Cover Supervisor role, candidates must:

  • Hold a degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Have previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Have relevant experience through schools, tutoring, sports coaching, mentoring, youth work, or similar settings.
  • Be confident managing groups of students.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Be resilient, adaptable, and reliable.
  • Have a genuine interest in progressing into teaching.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Meet GSL's safer recruitment requirements.
  • Hold an Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
