Graduate Cover Supervisor

Location: Sandwich, Kent

Salary: £100 - £120 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, Long-term Supply

Would you like to gain valuable classroom experience as a Graduate Cover Supervisor while developing the skills and confidence needed to progress into teacher training?

If so, GSL Education Kent would love to hear from you! We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Graduate Cover Supervisor to join a well-established secondary school in Sandwich. This is an excellent opportunity to gain genuine experience within a secondary classroom while supporting students during planned and unplanned teacher absences.

The school has high expectations for behaviour, achievement, and student development and is committed to providing a positive and consistent learning environment. As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will become an important part of the school team, supervising classes across different year groups and subjects and ensuring students remain focused on their learning. This Graduate Cover Supervisor position would be particularly well suited to a graduate considering a PGCE or future career in teaching.

As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will be expected to:

  • Supervise classes across different secondary year groups and subjects.
  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons and resources in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom expectations.
  • Encourage students to remain focused, motivated, and engaged with their work.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with students.
  • Provide consistency and continuity during teacher absence.
  • Communicate relevant feedback to teaching and pastoral staff.

To be considered for this Graduate Cover Supervisor role, candidates must:

  • Hold a degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Have previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Have experience through a school, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or a similar setting.
  • Be confident leading groups of students independently.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills.
  • Be calm, resilient, adaptable, and reliable.
  • Have a genuine interest in progressing into teaching.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Meet GSL's safer recruitment requirements.
  • Hold an Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
