Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Can you help improve school attendance by identifying concerns early, building positive relationships with families, and keeping every pupil connected to their education?
GSL Education are working with schools throughout Sheffield to find organised and proactive Attendance Officer. We are interested in individuals who can maintain accurate attendance records, communicate professionally with families, and work alongside pastoral teams to address patterns of absence and punctuality.
As an Attendance Officer, you will play an important role in monitoring pupil attendance, following up concerns, and helping schools identify and address barriers that may prevent young people from attending regularly.
Attendance Officer Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily attendance and punctuality using relevant school systems
- Investigate unexplained absences and identify recurring attendance patterns
- Contact parents and carers regarding absence, lateness, and related concerns
- Maintain accurate records of communications, interventions, and attendance actions
- Prepare attendance data and reports for meetings, reviews, and school leaders
- Liaise with pastoral and safeguarding colleagues where additional intervention may be required
Attendance Officer Requirements:
- Experience in school administration, attendance, pastoral support, or a related role
- Knowledge of accurate record-keeping and confidential information handling
- Confidence communicating with pupils, parents, carers, and school professionals
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to use administrative and attendance systems efficiently
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
