Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you confident managing a classroom and enjoy helping students stay focused on their learning? A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is looking for a reliable Cover Supervisor to join its team.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes in the absence of their usual teacher, ensuring students remain engaged and follow the work provided. You will maintain a calm and well-managed classroom, support students with their learning and liaise with teaching staff when needed.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is looking to build further experience within a school environment.

Responsibilities:

Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher.

Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students remain on task.

Manage classroom behaviour calmly and consistently.

Support students with their work where appropriate.

Maintain a safe, orderly and positive learning environment.

Report any relevant issues or concerns to teaching staff.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

A confident, calm and approachable manner.

Ability to follow lesson plans and instructions effectively.

Good organisational skills and reliability.

A genuine interest in supporting students within an educational setting.
To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
We also offer, via our partner, access to accredited Education-relevant CPD courses.
