SEN Teaching Assistant – Special School

GSL Education is currently recruiting an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and welcoming special school in Hammersmith & Fulham on a full-time, long-term basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or Support Worker who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them to reach their full potential.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students with a range of additional needs, providing support both inside and outside the classroom. You may be required to support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, depending on their individual needs.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEN
- Supporting students with their learning, development and independence
- Assisting with classroom activities and adapting support to individual needs
- Building positive and trusting relationships with students
- Supporting students with communication, social and emotional development
- Promoting positive behaviour and engagement with learning
- Working closely with teachers and other professionals
- Creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
To be considered for this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you should have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
- A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
- A patient, caring and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with students
- Good behaviour management skills
- Availability to work full-time
Experience supporting students with Autism (ASC/ASD), communication difficulties, learning disabilities, SEMH needs or challenging behaviour would be highly beneficial.
