Salary: £2006 – £2491 per month

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in York, supporting pupils at Key Stage 3.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or someone with a strong background working with young people who is looking to develop their experience within a specialist environment.
About the School
The school is a specialist educational setting supporting children and young people who have experienced significant barriers to learning and have struggled to thrive within mainstream education.
The provision offers a highly supportive and nurturing learning environment, with pupils taught in small groups and supported by a high ratio of experienced staff. The approach is highly individualised, with a focus on helping young people overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and develop the skills they need to succeed.

The KS3 provision provides pupils with a broad curriculum including English, Maths, Humanities, PSHE, Art, Cooking, PE, ICT and other specialist opportunities, alongside personalised support and interventions.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils both academically and pastorally.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
- Helping pupils access and engage with their learning.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Supporting pupils with their communication, confidence and emotional development.
- Encouraging independence and positive learning behaviours.
- Helping pupils to develop strategies that support their learning and emotional regulation.
- Supporting classroom activities and differentiated learning.
- Working alongside teachers and other professionals to provide consistent support.
- Creating a calm, safe and positive learning environment.
