SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Poole, Dorset
Pay: £85.44 – £100 per day
Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs?
We are currently recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant to support a specialist primary provision in Poole.
The school supports children aged 3–8 years with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). With small class sizes of around 6–8 pupils and a high staff-to-pupil ratio, this is a fantastic opportunity to provide meaningful, personalised support and help every child reach their potential.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities
- Support children with Autism and a range of additional needs
- Help pupils develop their communication, social and independence skills
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of each child
- Help create a safe, nurturing and positive learning environment
- Support pupils during classroom activities, play and outdoor learning
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about supporting children with SEN
- Patient, compassionate and resilient
- Confident working with children with Autism and/or additional needs
- Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Flexible and proactive, with a positive attitude
- Comfortable supporting children with a range of communication and learning needs
Previous SEN experience is highly desirable, although candidates with relevant experience working with children or young people in other settings are also encouraged to apply.
