Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School

Contract: Full-time, with the opportunity to become permanent

GSL Education are currently looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming secondary school in Fareham, starting ASAP.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference to young people's lives and help students reach their full potential. The role is initially through GSL Education, with a view to moving onto a permanent contract with the school following a successful probation period.

The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to help students engage positively with their learning and overcome barriers to education.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students in the classroom and on a 1:1 or small-group basis where required.
- Helping students remain engaged, focused and motivated during lessons.
- Providing encouragement and positive reinforcement to help build confidence.
- Supporting students with additional learning and educational needs.
- Working closely with teaching staff to ensure students receive the appropriate support.
- Helping create a calm, safe and positive learning environment.
- Building positive and professional relationships with students.
- Encouraging resilience, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
- Contributing to the wider life and ethos of the school.
What We're Looking For
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable, but it isn't essential.
We are particularly interested in people who have the right attitude, personality and work ethic. You may already have experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker or similar, but we are also keen to hear from individuals looking to start or develop their career in education.
