Salary: £100–£130 per day (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Long-Term/ Day-to-day, Full-Time / Part-Time
Are you confident managing a classroom and keeping students focused when their regular teacher is unavailable?
GSL Education Newcastle Branch are currently seeking a reliable and confident Cover Supervisor to work with a school in Middlesbrough. This is an opportunity to support the continuity of learning by supervising classes, maintaining positive behaviour and ensuring students complete the work provided by their usual teacher.
Your responsibilities as a Cover Supervisor:
- Supervise classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Deliver clear instructions and ensure students understand their tasks.
- Maintain a calm, organised and purposeful classroom environment.
- Manage behaviour in line with school policies.
- Encourage students to remain focused and complete their work.
- Provide appropriate support to students during lessons.
- Report relevant information regarding lesson progress or incidents.
Requirements for the Cover Supervisor (CS) role:
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Experience in a school, tutoring, youth work or similar setting would be beneficial.
- Confident classroom and behavior management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills is important for a CS.
- A calm, reliable and professional approach.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
