Salary: £95–£115 per day, depending on experience

Do you have the patience and understanding needed to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in their day-to-day learning?

GSL Education Newcastle Branch are currently seeking a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to work with a school in Middlesbrough. This is an opportunity to provide targeted support to students who may require additional help with their learning, communication, behaviour or emotional wellbeing.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEN.
  • Assist Special needs children with classroom tasks and learning activities.
  • Help students understand instructions and remain engaged with their learning.
  • Support the development of communication, social and independent learning skills.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and build students' confidence.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to meet individual needs.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant role:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people is as an SEN TA desirable .
  • Experience working with SEN students, education, childcare or a similar setting would be beneficial.
  • A patient, calm and consistent approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to supporting student wellbeing and development.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
