Part-Time Supply Teacher

Location: Kent

Salary: £130 – £250 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Part-time, Flexible Supply

Are you a qualified teacher with QTS looking for greater flexibility in your working week?

Would you like the freedom to choose when you work, whether that means picking up the occasional day, working a few days each week, or taking on a longer-term placement?

If so, GSL Education Kent would love to hear from you! We are currently recruiting Part-Time Supply Teachers to work across a variety of schools throughout Kent. With day-to-day, short-term, long-term, and permanent opportunities available, you can choose the type of work that best suits your availability, experience, and career plans.

Why choose flexible supply teaching?

As a Part-Time Supply Teacher, you have greater control over your working schedule. Whether you are looking to work around existing commitments, want to reduce your hours, or simply prefer the variety that supply teaching offers, we can help find opportunities that work for you.

Our partner schools include:

  • High-performing grammar schools with excellent academic standards.
  • Mixed secondary schools with inclusive and supportive environments.
  • Established academies offering strong professional development.
  • Local community schools providing varied and rewarding teaching experiences.

This role is specifically for a Teacher who holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). We are particularly interested in hearing from teachers who are confident stepping into different classrooms, adapting quickly to new environments, and maintaining high standards of teaching and behaviour management.

As a Part-Time Supply Teacher, you will provide valuable continuity of learning when permanent staff are absent. You may be asked to deliver pre-planned lessons, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure students remain engaged and focused throughout the school day.

Most importantly, you decide how much you work. You can let us know the days you are available, and we will work with you to identify suitable opportunities across Kent.

Key Responsibilities of the Supply Teacher:

  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons confidently across different year groups and subjects.
  • Maintain effective classroom management and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Follow individual school policies, including safeguarding and behaviour procedures.
  • Provide feedback to permanent teaching staff regarding student engagement and lesson outcomes.
  • Adapt quickly to different schools, classrooms, and teaching expectations.
  • Ensure continuity of learning while the regular classroom teacher is unavailable.

Requirements for a Supply Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Essential (applications without QTS will not be considered).
  • Recent experience teaching within UK schools.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to adapt quickly and work confidently in different school environments.
  • A valid Right to Work in the UK.

What we offer:

  • Flexible working: Choose the days you want to work based on your availability.
  • Variety of opportunities: From single-day cover to longer-term placements.
  • Local placements: Access to a wide network of schools across East Kent.
  • Easy registration: We take care of the compliance and paperwork process.
  • Professional support: Dedicated consultants available to help with CVs, interviews, and placements.
  • Career flexibility: Take on supply work while considering longer-term or permanent opportunities.
  • Referral rewards: Earn bonuses when you introduce qualified teaching colleagues to our team.

Whether you want to work one or two days a week, several days a week, or take on a longer-term placement, GSL Education Kent can help you find a supply teaching arrangement that fits around your life.

Please be advised that this Supply Teacher role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. All successful applicants will be subject to safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or a willingness to apply for one.
