GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming primary school in Scarborough. This is an exciting opportunity for a caring and committed individual to provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment.

SEN Teaching Assistant Role:

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with class teachers and support staff to provide targeted assistance to pupils with a range of special educational needs. You will help pupils access learning, develop their confidence and independence, and participate positively in classroom and school activities.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN and additional learning needs.
  • Assist pupils with classroom tasks, learning activities and personalised programmes.
  • Adapt support to meet individual communication, learning, social and emotional needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and greater independence in learning.
  • Work closely with teachers to monitor pupil progress and implement appropriate support strategies.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment where every child feels supported.

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school or similar setting is desirable.
  • A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children.
  • Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other school staff.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
