Job Title: Learning Mentor
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently searching for a Learning Mentor to work in schools across York. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can provide tailored pastoral and educational support, encourage positive attitudes towards learning and help pupils develop the skills and resilience they need to progress.
Learning Mentor Role:
The successful Learning Mentor will provide dedicated support to pupils who may need additional encouragement with their learning, behaviour, confidence or personal development. Working closely with teaching and pastoral teams, you will help pupils identify challenges, set achievable goals and develop greater independence in their education.
Learning Mentor Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring to pupils requiring additional support.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage pupils to engage with learning.
- Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, motivation and independent learning skills.
- Support pupils with managing behaviour, emotions and barriers that may affect their education.
- Set appropriate goals with pupils and monitor their progress over time.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support strategies are in place.
Learning Mentor Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people in an educational, pastoral or youth-focused setting is desirable.
- A compassionate, patient and encouraging approach to working with pupils.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Confidence in supporting pupils who may present with behavioural, emotional or social challenges.
- Ability to remain calm, consistent and professional in challenging situations.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
