Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

Are you a caring, patient, and dedicated Support Worker looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people? GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting passionate Support Workers to work across educational and specialist support settings in York.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can provide consistent, person-centred support while helping young people develop their confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to children and young people with a range of individual needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a reliable source of encouragement and guidance.
  • Support individuals with emotional regulation, communication, social skills, and day-to-day routines.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, confidence, and engagement in activities.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, families, and other professionals to ensure consistent support.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment while following safeguarding procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals in a support, care, education, or community setting.
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach with the ability to understand individual needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, resilient, and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
