Job Title: Behaviour Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to work in schools across York. This is an excellent opportunity for a calm and proactive individual who can build positive relationships with pupils, provide consistent support and help promote positive behaviour within the classroom and wider school environment.
Behaviour Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful Behaviour Teaching Assistant will work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils who may require additional help with their behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation. You will play an important role in encouraging positive choices, maintaining a structured environment and helping pupils develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed.
Behaviour Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support to pupils experiencing behavioural difficulties.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
- Support pupils to manage their emotions, regulate their behaviour and make positive choices.
- Assist teachers in maintaining a calm, structured and purposeful learning environment.
- Encourage pupils to engage positively with lessons and develop greater independence.
- Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff to monitor behaviour and support individual strategies.
Behaviour Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly in a behaviour or pastoral setting, is desirable.
- A calm, patient and resilient approach when supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to remain consistent and professional when managing difficult situations.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
