Job Title: Behaviour Support
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Can you provide the structure and encouragement that helps young people take greater control of their behaviour and make positive progress at school?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are looking to appoint confident and understanding Behaviour Support for inclusive schools Sheffield. We would like to hear from individuals who can respond calmly to difficult situations, establish productive relationships with pupils, and use consistent strategies to improve engagement, behaviour, and participation in learning.
The Behaviour Support role involves working directly with pupils who require additional behavioural or emotional guidance, helping them develop self-awareness, manage their responses, and participate more successfully in school life.
Behaviour Support Responsibilities:
- Build constructive relationships with pupils who require additional behavioural guidance
- Apply agreed behaviour strategies consistently across lessons and other school activities
- Guide students towards appropriate responses when facing frustration or conflict
- De-escalate challenging situations using calm and appropriate interventions
- Track behavioural patterns and communicate significant observations to relevant staff
- Partner with teachers and pastoral colleagues to strengthen individual support approaches
Behaviour Support Requirements:
- Practical experience working with young people in education, youth work, care, or a related setting is desirable
- Understanding of behaviour management techniques and appropriate interventions
- Capacity to remain composed and make appropriate decisions under pressure
- Strong relationship-building skills combined with clear professional boundaries
- Flexible and resilient attitude when working with pupils who have varied needs
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
