Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are working with inclusive schools in Sheffield to find resilient and compassionate SEMH Teacher. We are interested in educators who can balance academic expectations with individualised emotional and behavioural support, adapting their approach to help pupils overcome barriers and reconnect with education.
The SEMH Teacher delivers accessible learning for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, combining effective teaching with structured routines and strategies that promote emotional regulation and positive engagement.
SEMH Teacher Responsibilities:
- Design lessons that accommodate individual academic, emotional, and behavioural needs
- Establish predictable classroom routines that create stability and reassurance
- Implement positive behaviour strategies to reduce barriers to participation
- Guide pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and coping techniques
- Evaluate academic and personal progress to inform future interventions
- Coordinate with support staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals where appropriate
SEMH Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification
- Knowledge of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within education
- Experience teaching pupils with additional or complex needs
- Confidence applying positive behaviour and de-escalation strategies
- Resilient and adaptable approach with strong classroom leadership skills
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
