Job Title: Behaviour Support
Location: Rotherham
Pay Rate: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Can you help young people recognise what drives their behaviour and develop more constructive ways to respond to challenges?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are looking to appoint confident and approachable Behaviour Support for schools in Rotherham. We welcome individuals who can establish clear boundaries, respond constructively to challenging situations, and build relationships that help students improve their behaviour, engagement, and experience of school.
The Behaviour Support role provides targeted assistance to pupils who may experience behavioural or emotional difficulties, helping them develop self-regulation skills and participate more successfully in learning.
Behaviour Support Responsibilities:
- Establish positive relationships with pupils who require additional behavioural guidance
- Identify potential triggers and recognise patterns that may lead to challenging behaviour
- Implement agreed strategies to help students regulate emotions and make appropriate choices
- Redirect learners towards classroom activities following periods of disengagement
- Document behavioural progress, incidents, and relevant observations accurately
- Coordinate with teachers and pastoral teams to maintain consistent approaches to individual pupils
Behaviour Support Requirements:
- Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviour
- Knowledge of positive behaviour management and de-escalation approaches
- Confidence maintaining appropriate boundaries in demanding situations
- Capacity to communicate clearly with pupils, colleagues, and other professionals
- Resilience, patience, and consistency when responding to individual needs
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
