Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: £92-£115 Per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently searching for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work in schools across York. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to supporting pupils with a range of additional needs and can build positive, trusting relationships while helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally.
SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work alongside teaching staff to provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs. You will help create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment, adapting your approach to meet individual needs and encouraging pupils to become more confident and independent learners.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN and additional learning needs.
- Assist pupils with classroom activities, academic tasks and individual learning programmes.
- Support pupils with communication, social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence and engagement with learning.
- Work closely with teachers and support staff to monitor pupil progress and identify areas requiring further support.
- Promote a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every pupil feels valued.
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable.
- A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach to working with pupils with diverse needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and work effectively as part of a wider school team.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
