Job Title: Level 2 Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: £92-£115 Per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull branch is currently hiring dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistants to work across schools in York and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with classroom experience who is looking for flexible supply work, a long-term placement, or a role that could lead to a permanent position.
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and support staff to provide effective classroom assistance and targeted support. You will help pupils access the curriculum, participate positively in lessons, and develop their academic, social, and personal skills within a supportive learning environment.
Main Responsibilities as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils engage with lessons and develop key learning skills.
- Assist teachers with classroom activities, differentiated tasks, learning resources, and interventions.
- Support pupils who may experience barriers to learning or require additional assistance.
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, independence, and active participation in learning.
- Monitor pupils' engagement and progress, sharing relevant observations and feedback with teaching staff.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that promotes pupil wellbeing.
Level 2 Teaching Assistant Minimum Requirements:
- A relevant Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational, and teamwork skills.
- A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting pupils with different needs.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
