Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to work in schools across York. This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, enthusiastic and adaptable individual who can provide effective classroom and one-to-one support while helping pupils engage positively with their education.

Teaching Assistant Role:

The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will support pupils with their academic progress, encourage positive behaviour and help ensure that every learner feels valued and able to participate in school life.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with classroom activities, learning tasks and individual work.
  • Provide one-to-one or small-group support where required.
  • Assist teachers with preparing learning resources and maintaining an engaging classroom environment.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence among pupils.
  • Support pupils with their social, emotional and educational development.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and other staff to monitor pupil progress and provide appropriate support.

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, care or support setting is desirable.
  • A patient, nurturing and encouraging approach to supporting pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a school team and follow teachers’ guidance.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
