Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Barnsley
Salary: £460–£650 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Long-Term/ Day-to-day, Full-Time / Part-Time
Can you confidently manage a classroom and keep students focused when their regular teacher is unavailable?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking a confident and dependable Cover Supervisor (CS) to support a school in Doncaster. This role would suit someone who can establish clear expectations, maintain a positive learning environment, and ensure students remain engaged with the work provided by their usual teacher.
Key Responsibilities of Cover Supervisor:
- · Take responsibility for maintaining effective classroom routines.
- · Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the teaching staff.
- · Manage different groups of students confidently and fairly.
- · Encourage positive behaviour and active participation.
- · Deal appropriately with classroom issues and seek support when required.
- · Follow safeguarding, behaviour and health and safety procedures.
Requirements for the Cover Supervisor role:
- · Confident classroom or group management skills.
- · Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- · A calm, consistent and professional approach.
- · Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- · Previous experience in a school, tutoring, youth work or similar environment is desirable.
- · Reliable, organised and punctual.
- · Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- · Understanding safeguarding and child protection as a CS is required.
