Science Technician
Location: Medway, Kent
Salary: £100++ per day (depending on experience)

If so, GSL Education Kent would love to hear from you! We are currently seeking a skilled Science Technician to join a well-regarded secondary grammar school in Medway. This is an exciting long-term opportunity, with the school anticipating a period of absence within its science department.
The school is known for its high academic standards and strong commitment to providing students with engaging and practical learning experiences. As a Science Technician, you will become an important member of the science department, working closely with teaching staff to prepare resources, equipment, and laboratory spaces for practical lessons. This role would suit an experienced Science Technician who is organised, safety-conscious, and confident working within a busy secondary school laboratory environment.
As a Science Technician, you will be expected to:
- Prepare and organise equipment, chemicals, materials, and resources for practical science lessons.
- Work closely with science teachers to ensure practical activities are ready and conducted safely.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure resources are stored appropriately.
- Follow strict health and safety procedures and support the safe use of science laboratories.
- Assist with the preparation and clearing of practical demonstrations and experiments.
- Monitor stock levels and report any equipment or resource requirements to the relevant staff.
- Maintain clean, organised, and safe laboratory environments at all times.
To be considered for this Science Technician role, candidates should:
- Have previous experience working as a Science Technician within a school, college, laboratory, or similar practical science environment.
- Have strong knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures.
- Be confident preparing practical experiments and supporting science teaching staff.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Be reliable, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a wider department.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Meet GSL's safer recruitment requirements.
- Hold an Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
