Job Title: Computer Studies Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are looking to appoint enthusiastic and technically confident Computer Studies (CS) Teacher to work in schools throughout Barnsley. We welcome educators who can make computing concepts accessible, connect theory with practical applications, and encourage students to develop curiosity about programming and digital technologies.

The Computer Studies Teacher delivers engaging learning across computing and digital technology, developing students’ programming knowledge, computational thinking, and understanding of modern computer systems.

Computer Studies Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan engaging lessons across the Computer Studies and Computing curriculum
  • Teach programming principles through coding exercises and practical projects
  • Examine topics including computer systems, networks, data, software, and cybersecurity
  • Foster logical thinking by introducing students to computational problem-solving
  • Review coursework and assessments to identify progress and areas for development
  • Equip examination groups with the knowledge and revision strategies needed for assessments

Computer Studies Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification
  • Detailed knowledge of secondary Computing, Computer Studies, or ICT
  • Familiarity with programming languages and practical classroom applications
  • Experience teaching computing-related subjects at secondary level 
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts effectively
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
