Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Do you have the confidence to take responsibility for a classroom and keep students productive when their regular teacher is unavailable?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are looking to appoint confident and organised Cover Supervisor (CS) to work in schools throughout Barnsley. We welcome individuals who can establish clear expectations, communicate effectively with young people, and ensure that students continue working through prepared lessons across a variety of subjects.
The Cover Supervisor maintains continuity of learning during teacher absence by overseeing classes, managing behaviour, and ensuring students complete the work that has been set.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Oversee classes during planned and unplanned teacher absence
- Communicate lesson instructions and clarify prepared tasks for students
- Manage classroom behaviour while maintaining a productive atmosphere
- Direct learners towards the appropriate resources and activities
- Record relevant information about completed work, behaviour, or concerns
- Follow school procedures to ensure lessons remain safe and orderly
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Confidence taking responsibility for groups of students in a classroom setting
- Experience working with children or young people
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate instructions clearly
- Knowledge of appropriate approaches to classroom and behaviour management
- Flexibility to supervise different subjects, classes, and year groups
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
