A welcoming and community-focused Secondaryschool in Colchester is looking for an enthusiastic HLTA to join their team immediately. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about supporting teaching, delivering high-quality learning, and helping children thrive across the school.
As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teachers, leading small-group work, and confidently delivering lessons when required. The school is seeking someone adaptable, nurturing, and committed to the highest standards of pupil support.
About the HLTA Role

Deliver high-quality learning sessions across the Secondaryage range.

Support teachers with planning, preparation, and assessment.

Lead interventions in core subjects to help close learning gaps.

Provide classroom support and targeted 1:1 or small-group work.

Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

Uphold safeguarding principles and contribute positively to school ethos.
HLTA – What We’re Looking For
-
HLTA qualification OR equivalent experience within Secondarysettings.

Strong understanding of the Secondarycurriculum.

Ability to lead whole-class teaching when needed.

Confident, proactive, and able to work independently.

Passionate about supporting pupils’ academic and emotional development.

A positive, engaging approach with excellent communication skills.
