Job Title: Cover Supervisor

Location: Wakefield (WF8)

Salary: £120 – £140 per day (Depending on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Full-Time/Part-Time, Long-term/ Day-to-day

Can you take charge of a classroom while keeping the atmosphere positive?

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently looking for a confident Cover Supervisor to support a school in Wakefield (WF8). You’ll be responsible for keeping lessons organised and pupils focused when their regular teacher is away, making this a role where reliability and good judgement really matter.

What the Role Involves:

The school will provide lesson plans and resources. Your role is to make sure pupils understand what they need to do, remain engaged with their work, and behave appropriately throughout the session.

As a CS, You’ll be expected to:

  • ·       Supervise classes across different subjects in the absence of the usual teacher.
  • ·       Give clear instructions and ensure pupils understand the work provided.
  • ·       Maintain a purposeful classroom environment and manage behavior appropriately.
  • ·       Encourage pupils to complete their work and remain focused.
  • ·       Provide reasonable assistance where pupils need clarification.
  • ·       Record relevant information about lesson progress and any incidents.
  • ·       Follow school policies relating to safeguarding, behavior and health and safety.

Cover Supervisor Requirements:

  • ·      Confident managing groups of pupils and maintaining clear boundaries.
  • ·       Reliable, organised and comfortable working independently.
  • ·       Able to communicate clearly with pupils and school staff.
  • ·       Experienced in a school, youth work, tutoring or similar environment.
  • ·       In possession of an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willing to apply for a new enhanced DBS check.
  • ·       Committed to creating a safe and respectful learning environment.
