Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking organised and proactive Attendance Officer to join welcoming schools in Sheffield. We are looking for individuals who can monitor attendance effectively, identify emerging patterns of absence, and communicate professionally with students, parents, carers, and school staff to help improve attendance.
The Attendance Officer plays a key part in promoting consistent attendance and punctuality, maintaining accurate records, and helping schools address issues that may prevent students from attending regularly.
Attendance Officer Responsibilities:
- Track daily attendance, absence, and punctuality using school systems
- Contact parents and carers to follow up unexplained or persistent absences
- Identify attendance patterns that may indicate additional support is required
- Maintain accurate records of communications, interventions, and attendance data
- Liaise with pastoral, safeguarding, and senior staff regarding attendance concerns
- Prepare reports and relevant information for meetings or attendance reviews
Attendance Officer Requirements:
- Experience within school administration, attendance, pastoral support, or a similar environment
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage records accurately
- Confidence communicating professionally with students, parents, and carers
- Knowledge of confidentiality and the importance of handling sensitive information appropriately
- Ability to use computer systems effectively and maintain attention to detail
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
