Secondary Learning Support Assistant

Location: Maidstone, Kent

Salary: £93.33++ per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, Long-term Supply

If so, GSL Education Kent would love to hear from you! We are currently seeking a dedicated Secondary Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Maidstone. This full-time position is available to start ASAP, offering an excellent opportunity for a Secondary Learning Support Assistant to make a genuine difference to students' educational and personal development.

Located in Maidstone, this school is committed to creating a positive and inclusive environment where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential. As a Secondary Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored assistance to students across the school. The successful Secondary Learning Support Assistant will help students engage with lessons, build independence, and develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed.

As a Secondary Learning Support Assistant, you will be expected to:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged students to help them access the curriculum.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive learning activities.
  • Support students with their academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback and observations to teaching staff.
  • Support students who may have additional learning needs or require extra classroom assistance.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment in line with school policies.

To be considered for this Secondary Learning Support Assistant role, candidates should:

  • Have previous experience working as a Secondary Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or in a similar education or youth-support role.
  • Have experience supporting secondary-aged children or young people, particularly those with additional learning needs.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuine commitment to helping students succeed.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Meet GSL's safer recruitment requirements.
  • Hold an Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
