Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Sheffield
Salary: Up to £200 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you a dedicated teacher who is passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs? A supportive secondary school in Sheffield is seeking an SEMH Teacher who can provide high-quality teaching while helping pupils make meaningful progress in their education.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Teacher, you will plan and deliver accessible, engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils. You will create a structured classroom environment, adapt your teaching to support different learning needs and monitor progress carefully. Working closely with colleagues and pastoral staff, you will help pupils develop their confidence, independence and readiness to learn.

Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging lessons adapted to pupils' individual needs.

Assess, monitor and record pupil progress effectively.

Use appropriate strategies to support pupils with SEMH needs.

Establish clear routines and maintain positive classroom behaviour.

Differentiate learning and resources to ensure pupils can access the curriculum.

Work closely with pastoral and support staff to provide consistent support.

Contribute to individual education and support planning where appropriate.
Requirements:
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

Experience teaching pupils with SEMH or additional learning needs is desirable.

Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.

A calm, patient and consistent approach.

Excellent communication and organisational skills.

A genuine commitment to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
