Job Title: Supply Teacher

Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: September 2026
Salary Scale: £130 - £180 per day (Depending on experience)
Are you a flexible and confident Supply Teacher looking for opportunities to teach across a variety of schools in York?
GSL Education Hull Branch are currently looking for a Supply Teacher to work across a range of supportive and inclusive secondary schools in York. We are looking for adaptable, enthusiastic, and committed teachers who can quickly settle into different classroom environments, maintain high standards of teaching, and ensure students continue to make progress in the absence of their usual teacher.
Supply Teacher Role:
The successful Supply Teacher will deliver engaging lessons across different classes and subjects, following existing lesson plans where provided and adapting your approach to meet the needs of each group. We are looking to recruit a Supply Teacher who is confident managing classrooms, building rapport with students, and maintaining continuity of learning across different educational settings.
Supply Teacher Responsibilities:
- Deliver well-structured lessons that follow provided plans and meet the learning objectives of each class
- Adapt teaching approaches and resources to accommodate different abilities and learning needs
- Establish positive classroom routines and maintain effective behaviour management
- Assess student understanding during lessons and provide appropriate feedback to support learning
- Work professionally with teaching and support staff to ensure a smooth transition between lessons
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages students to participate and succeed
Supply Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Previous teaching experience within a secondary school setting is desirable
- Strong classroom management and the ability to adapt quickly to different environments
- Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
- A flexible, reliable, and professional approach to working across different schools and classes
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
