About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes in the absence of their regular teacher, ensuring pupils remain focused and complete the work provided. You will work across different subjects and year groups, managing classroom behaviour, supporting students with their learning and helping lessons run smoothly throughout the school day.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes across different year groups and subjects.

  • Deliver lesson instructions and ensure pupils complete the work provided.

  • Maintain a calm and orderly classroom environment.

  • Manage behaviour in line with school policies and expectations.

  • Support pupils with their learning where appropriate.

  • Report any concerns or incidents to relevant members of staff.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and wider school staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.

  • A confident, calm and professional approach.

  • Ability to manage groups of pupils effectively.

  • Good organisational skills and reliability.

  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils' education and development.

  • Education or youth work experience is advantageous.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
