Job Title: PE Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are working with active schools in Barnsley to find enthusiastic and motivated Physical Education Teacher. We welcome qualified educators who can deliver enjoyable and inclusive lessons, introduce learners to a range of sports, and encourage positive attitudes towards fitness and healthy living.

The PE Teacher delivers engaging physical education lessons that help students improve their sporting skills, fitness, teamwork, and understanding of healthy lifestyles.

PE Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver PE lessons across a range of sports and activities
  • Teach students correct techniques, rules, and safe sporting practices
  • Adapt activities to suit different abilities and levels of experience
  • Encourage teamwork, fair play, discipline, and active participation
  • Monitor individual progress and provide useful feedback
  • Support school sports clubs, teams, competitions, and events

PE Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential
  • Previous experience teaching PE within a school or similar setting
  • Good knowledge of the PE curriculum and a variety of sports
  • Confidence leading practical activities indoors and outdoors
  • Strong communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
