Job Title: Design and Technology Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are supporting schools throughout Barnsley in their search for creative and skilled Design and Technology Teacher. We welcome qualified educators who can make practical learning engaging, introduce students to a range of materials and techniques, and encourage them to approach design challenges with confidence.

The D&T Teacher guides learners through the design and making process, helping them strengthen their creativity, technical knowledge, and practical problem-solving skills.

DT Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Design and Technology lessons
  • Guide students through designing, making, testing, and evaluating products
  • Introduce learners to different materials, tools, and production techniques
  • Demonstrate the safe and correct use of workshop equipment
  • Encourage students to experiment, solve problems, and improve their designs
  • Assess practical and written work and provide constructive feedback

Design and Technology Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential
  • Previous experience teaching Design and Technology within a school or similar setting
  • Good knowledge of D&T materials, tools, and practical techniques
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements in workshop environments
  • Strong planning, communication, and classroom management skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
