Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the absence of teaching staff, ensuring pupils remain focused on the work provided and that lessons run smoothly. You will be responsible for maintaining positive behaviour, supporting pupils with their learning and creating a calm, purposeful classroom environment throughout the school day.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with young people, communicates confidently and is keen to play an active part in a secondary school community.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes and deliver work set by the absent teacher.

  • Maintain a calm, orderly and productive classroom environment.

  • Manage pupil behaviour in line with school policies.

  • Support pupils with their learning and encourage engagement.

  • Ensure pupils follow lesson instructions and complete the work provided.

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil engagement and behaviour where appropriate.

  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school procedures at all times.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Confident classroom and behaviour management skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A calm, organised and dependable approach.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to the wider school team.

  • A genuine interest in supporting young people and their education.

To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
